Environmental Caretakers – June 5

June 5 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am

Help us restore native habitats! As an Environmental Caretaker, you will directly assist in efforts to remove non-native, invasive plants and help with the follow up restoration using native varieties. Our June event will target the areas around our wetland.

Please note, that this event will focus on the removal of non-natives and some of these plants may be on the edge of, or in the water. There is a chance some volunteers will need to step into the water, so please wear footwear you wouldn’t mind possibly getting wet or muddy.

About the Program

Caretakers meet once each season and will learn the importance of maintaining a healthy ecosystem. No previous experience is necessary to participate and you will gain knowledge about native versus non-native plant species while learning the proper  procedures to remove invasive species.  Volunteers need to be willing and capable of pulling and/or cutting the invasive plants and will need to be able to maneuver across uneven terrain.
