Greenacres began as a Black Angus cattle farm back in 1949. After many years of only cattle grazing on lush pastures, we learned that in order to maintain the optimum health and production of those pastures (in an environmentally friendly and sustainable way) we needed to diversify the types of forages our cattle were eating. Today Black Angus cows and their calves, broiler chickens, laying hens, turkeys, Tunis sheep and their lambs, and a few horses call the pastures of Greenacres Farm home. These animals work together in a rotating grazing system that maximizes the harvesting of ALL the forages in the fields, but also ensures the appropriate nutrients (manure) are being redistributed back into the soils to fertilize next year’s forages.
