L&L Nippert Charitable Foundation Grant Information

 

General Guidelines:
Before submitting a proposal, an applicant should review the purpose, policies and restrictions, application deadline, and application requirements pertinent to the L&L Nippert Charitable Foundation. The types of projects funded include (but not limited to) cultural arts, education, environment, and health.

Policies and Restrictions

  • Grants will only be made to an organization that provides a letter of determination issued by the Internal Revenue Service showing its status as a 501 (c) 3 organization and not a private foundation as defined in Section 509.
  • The Foundation considers requests from organizations that serve the greater Cincinnati area.
  • Grants will not be made to individuals.
  • Grants will not be made to Endowments.
  • Grants for operating expenses are considered.
  • Within one year of the grant, the L & L Nippert Charitable Foundation requires a report of the progress of the project supported and how grant expenses have been expended.
  • Unless specific permission is granted by the L & L Nippert Charitable Foundation, the applicant should not acknowledge the funds were provided by the Foundation. If permission is given, acknowledgement should appear as follows: L & L Nippert Charitable Foundation.
  • Applicants are not encouraged to call the Foundation Administrator to discuss their proposals.
  • Grant requests are limited to one (1) request per organization per grant cycle (year).

Grant Application Guidelines
Grant applications must include a cover letter, Summary of Grant Request, an application, a copy of an independent audit of the organization or current 990/990PF, and a letter of determination from the Internal Revenue Service (see bullets below for details). The application deadline is September 15th of each year. Grants are awarded in December of each year.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Applicants must use 12-point type and 1 inch margins all around.
  • All applicants are required to include a Summary of Grant Request and an application.
  • The Summary of Grant Request should not exceed 2 pages in length. See link for downloadable copy of the L& L Nippert Charitable Foundation Summary of Grant Request Format.
  • In addition to a complete description of the project including audience, need, benefits, costs, and measures of success, the application must include the following: size of the organizations endowment, investment, policy, money spent from endowment, and name of the organization’s Endowment Manager(s) for the past 5 years.
  • Applicants may use the Ohio Common Grant Application Form to submit a proposal to the L & L Nippert Charitable Foundation.  See link for a downloadable copy of the Ohio Grant Application Form.
  • All applications must be received on a CD or disk in Microsoft Word with one original hard copy. The Summary of Grant Request and application should be separate files on the disk.
  • The application deadline is September 15th of each year.

All applications should include:

  • 1 disk or CD with two files in Microsoft Word of the Summary of the Grant Request and Application.
  • 1 paper Copy of the Summary of Grant Request.
  • 1 paper copy of the Application.
  • 1 paper copy of any attachments to the proposal.
  • 1 paper copy of a cover letter signed by the head of the organization. No other signatories are required.
  • 1 copy of an Independent Audit of the organizations financial records by a CPA if a current one is available or a the previous years 990/990PF.
  • 1 copy of the organizations letter of determination from the Internal Revenue Service showing status as a 501(c)3 organization.
