Louis and Louise Nippert founded the L&L Nippert Charitable Foundation in 1981. The original funding came from the proceeds of the sale of the majority of the Cincinnati Reds in 1981. The Founders have been very generous philanthropists who conduct their activity anonymously. Mrs. Nippert has often stated that the goal of philanthropy is not social recognition, but the knowledge that one has contributed to a needed charitable activity.
The Nippert’s have always supported many charitable activities in the Greater Cincinnati area. Mr. Nippert was very dedicated to medical research, the environment, agriculture, and education. Mrs. Nippert is known for her love of and interest in the arts, particularly the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and the Cincinnati Opera.
The L & L Nippert Charitable Foundation was established in 1992 to provide support for charitable activities deemed worthy of financial assistance by the Trustees. To remain true to the mission, the Foundation concentrates its grants on areas that Mr. and Mrs. Nippert have supported in the past including, but not limited to, cultural arts, education, environment, and health.
