Special events are conducted to benefit horse-related education programs in the community. For example, Greenacres Equine Center partners with other charitable organizations such as St. Joe’s Orphanage, Boys Hope Girls Hope, and Big Brothers Big Sisters to offer inner city youth the opportunity to learn how to handle, care for, and ride horses. The Equine Center also has a program called “Ridership for At-Risk Youth” that enables at-risk youth to participate in riding lessons and summer camps. In addition to special events, Greenacres conducts fund raisers to support the Equine Center and other area riding programs including an annual Ride-A-Thon and Horsin’ Around Silent Auction and Luncheon.
Horsin’ Around Under a Harvest Moon
The Horsin’ Around Under a Harvest Moon is an annual fundraiser held to fund our Stable Mates and At-Risk Youth Programs. Funds raised ensure that inner city and at-risk youth have access to Equine Center Programs and the benefits these programs provide in devoting self confidence and self esteem. This year's event will be on November 6, 2010.
Please join Greenacres Foundation for "Horsing Around”, our second annual fundraiser to raise funds to support disadvantaged youth participation in the Stable Mates and Summer Camp Programs at the Greenacres Equine Center. The fundraiser will take place November 6, 2010 at Greenacres Arts Center at 8400 Blome Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45243.
The purpose of Greenacres Equine Education program is to develop children’s awareness and self-esteem by learning how to handle, ride, and care for Horses. The program encourages children to overcome their fears as they develop courage, confidence and respect for themselves and others. Greenacres Equine Center is equipped with horses, riding stables, outdoor arenas, and professional instructors who are “raring,” willing, and able to welcome disadvantaged youth into the mounted riding program. We need your help to make this happen. For sponsorships and reservations please contact Co-chairs: Marlin Ach 771-5742 or Kathy LeFevre 561-9208.

Greenacres Ride-A-Thon
The Greenacres Ride-a-thon is a trail-riding charitable event held each year to benefit various horse related programs in our local area. The ride is open to the public and participants must bring a horse to ride. Riders are asked to obtain sponsors who pay them to ride in the event. The sponsorship dollars are then given to a horse-related charity. Riders may ride for as long or as short of a period as they wish. Maps of the shorter (45 minute, 1 hr, and 2 ½ hr) trails on the property will be provided. Maps of the entire 150-mile Indian Hill Bridle Trail system will also be provided.
There is a $25 minimum sponsorship required to ride. The individual and the group with the largest amount of sponsorship dollars will be the winners of the prizes. Prizes vary every year based on donations.
Registration begins at 9 am and remains open until 2 pm. At 3 pm the winner of the group and individual prizes will be announced. Riders may stay on the trails as long as they wish or until dusk when we close the Equine Center. Please visit the Events Calendar page for the date of the next event.
