School Programs

Greenacres Foundation offers on-site environment and agriculture programs free of charge during the school calendar year for school groups grades K-12. Teachers are encouraged to talk with the education staff to discuss curriculum guidelines and program options. Staff design programs to meet state benchmarks, specific curriculum requests and the individual needs of participants.

Programs must involve an educational component and are arranged by reservation only. Once a date has been determined and the program developed, a letter of confirmation will be sent out detailing the time and location of the program, any special instructions, and a lesson plan. Greenacres adult to student ration is ideally 1:7. Group sizes are limited to minimize impact to the land.

After School Programming
Programs for after school groups, scouts, and community groups must involve an educational component and are arranged by reservation only. Greenacres adult to student ration is ideally 1:7. Group sizes are limited to minimize impact on the land. At least one month's notice is required for scheduling, however it may be necessary to schedule even further in advance for programs during fall and spring.

  • Scout Programs

Greenacres Foundation provides naturalist-led environment and agriculture programs for scout groups throughout the school year. From Daisy Scouts to Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts to Eagle Scouts, Greenacres can provide programs for badge work or service projects. Greenacres staff work with Scout leaders to design programs that satisfy the educational needs of the group. Greenacres requires at least one-month advance notice to schedule scout programs. A five-dollar per child fee is required (min $40) at the time of the program.

  • Community Group Programs
Greenacres will provide programming for any organized group (garden clubs, civic groups, etc.) interested in environment and agriculture topics. Occasionally the Environment and Agriculture Education staff also offer special training opportunities and community service days. These are advertised in the Greenacres Foundation Newsletter.

  • Family Programs
Greenacres Foundation occasionally offers special family programs on the weekends such as the Family Fishing Day or Woodland Pixie ornament workshop. These programs are free and we advertise them to the public though the Greenacres Foundation Newsletter. Advanced registration is required.
